I'VE BEEN WHERE YOU ARE.

If you’re reading this, you might be where I once was – successful on paper, but quietly losing a fight nobody else can see.

You’ve built a career. You provide. People come to you for decisions. But somewhere in the last decade, your body stopped keeping up with the man you believe yourself to be. You’ve gained the weight. Your energy crashes in the afternoon. You dress to conceal. And you’ve started over so many times that a quiet voice has started asking whether you can change at all.

I know that man. I was him. And I want to tell you exactly how I got here – because my story is stranger than most, and there’s a lesson inside it that changes everything.

How a Bag of Peanut Butter Cups Became My Wake-Up Call

Not long ago, I was the one who needed saving.

After failing two businesses, drowning in debt, and feeling the weight of that failure crushing my health and my marriage, I looked in the mirror and didn’t recognize the man staring back. I was out of shape, out of energy, and – what hit hardest – completely out of excuses.

What made it worse? I had been a personal trainer. I knew better.

But knowing doesn’t mean doing. Instead of taking action, I numbed my stress with comfort food – sometimes eating a bag of peanut butter cups every night for over a year. I was ashamed, stuck in a cycle of self-sabotage, wondering how I’d ever climb out.

Now, here’s what makes that collapse so strange. Because to understand why it shook me so deeply, you have to know where I started.

I Was Two Years Old When I Learned Excuses Are a Choice

I lost all the hearing in my left ear and more than 75 percent in my right. Before I could really speak, the world had already gone mostly quiet.

Nobody handed me a system for that. So I built one. I taught myself to read lips. I learned to watch a man’s face instead of just listening for his words. I learned to lean in, to pay closer attention than everyone around me, to work harder for something most people get for free.

It made excuses impossible. When you spend your childhood fighting for something as basic as understanding the person across the table, you stop believing in the word ‘can’t.’ That mindset built my whole life – 40 years in fitness, 30 in high-level sales, talks, publications, companies. It refuses to quit at the first hard thing.

So understand what that means about the peanut butter cups.

The man who taught himself to read lips at two – who spent four decades refusing every excuse – that man still fell. Soft, exhausted, drowning anyway.

The Lesson That Changed Everything

If it could happen to me – a man whose entire identity is built on refusing limits – then hear me clearly:

Your slip is not a character flaw. It is not proof you’re weak. It is not evidence that you, specifically, just can’t do this.

It’s proof of the one thing most coaches will never tell you: willpower and mindset alone are not enough. Not even an unshakeable one. You need a system that holds you when the mindset wavers – because it will waver. Mine did.

I refuse excuses. And I still needed a structure to come back. That’s not a contradiction. That’s the whole lesson.

How I Fought My Way Back

One day, staring at a version of myself I didn’t want to be, I made a decision: I never want to feel this way again. No more excuses. No more waiting for the perfect time.

I started small. Bodyweight workouts at home, between chasing my kids and looking for work. No fancy equipment. No perfect conditions. Just me, doing the work. I cleaned up my diet one habit at a time – no extreme diets, no magic pills. Little by little, the weight came off. My energy returned. I rebuilt my strength, not just in my body, but in my mindset.

I wasn’t just getting fit. I was taking back control.

That transformation didn’t just reshape my body. It reshaped my life. I landed a career I love, found the love of my life, and together we’ve built a life rooted in strength, health, and purpose. I didn’t just survive. I became relentless.

What I Do Now

Everything I learned the hard way, I built into a system – so you don’t have to figure it out alone.

My ARMOR Method is a consistency operating system for high-achieving men over 50. It blends identity work, science-backed strength training that starts from the ground up, protein-first nutrition without dieting, and the tiny-habits approach to consistency I’m certified in. The goal isn’t to make you train like you’re 30. It’s to make you strong, capable, and dangerous at the age you actually are.

Because aging doesn’t take a man all at once. It starts from the ground up. Rebuild the legs, and you rebuild the man.

Take the Next Step

You’ve mastered your career. Now it’s time to master your body, your energy, and your life. It’s time to reclaim what you’ve lost – and build something even better.

You already know enough to start. You don’t need another method. You need to take the next step – no matter how small – and then take it again tomorrow.

BUILD THE LEGS. BUILD THE CONSISTENCY. BUILD THE MAN BACK.
